When Gear Patrol Met GORUCK: A New Camo Is Born In October of 2020, our Creative Director, Joe Tornatzky, took a walk through Manhattan’s flower district. The stunning and unique pattern of a variegated elephant ear caught his eye and the former textile designer had the idea to turn it into a one-of-a-kind print: one that was nature-inspired and stylish and still paid homage to camo’s tactical, military roots. Joe saw the opportunity to bring his vision to life and who better to do it with than our trusted friends in the tactical rucking world, GORUCK? We joined forces and a collaboration was born. What Makes the GR1 a Backpack We Wanted to Put Our Stamp On? GORUCK was started by a couple who worked for the CIA and the Special Forces and they funneled all their experience at home and abroad into making the toughest, most capable rucksack on the market.
