As the son of two park rangers, Andy built a lot of forts as a kid. After
college, he guided expedition whitewater trips before moving to the Bay
Area, earning a MBA, and working in software for six years. A late-twenties
life crisis drove some questionable decisions, including five years living
out of his Toyota Tacoma. Today he lives in Bend, Oregon, with his partner
and their two dogs Bea and Dusty Bottoms. He works as a freelance writer
and photographer, contributing to the New York Times, Outside, Wired, and
other publications.
